What to prepare before speaking with a recruiter

Write down your practical limits

Think about earliest starts, latest finishes, the days you can offer and how far you can travel. Distinguish a preference from a firm requirement. For example, you might prefer weekday work but be able to consider occasional weekends.

You do not need to explain private family or personal circumstances to make those limits clear. Describe the working pattern you can reliably sustain.

Describe tasks, not just titles

If you are unsure about job titles, list tasks you have done or would like to explore: speaking with customers, packing items, keeping records or working in a venue. Be honest about relevant experience and where you would need training.

Choose a few priorities. Being open to several categories can be helpful, but saying you can do anything may hide the details that matter most.

Know what Rolefolk initially asks

The five starting topics are work mode, city or postcode area, work category, availability and current UK work eligibility. Say if you are unsure about eligibility rather than guessing. The initial conversation is not an immigration assessment.

No account or CV upload is required to start. Do not send a full home address, passport, National Insurance number or bank details in the opening enquiry.

Prepare questions of your own

Ask what the work involves, the actual location or remote requirements, the schedule and the next steps. If an opportunity is discussed, ask who will explain the specific terms and make the hiring decision. Keep a note of the person or team you should return to.

After the conversation

Keep any agreed next steps somewhere easy to find. Let the team know if your availability changes. Telegram may be offered for updates, but you can continue with recruitment chat. You do not need to share Rolefolk with anyone else to receive matching support.
